Unknown gunmen Thursday shot a policeman to death in Delta State.
The incident occurred at the Isiokolo (Otoro-Agbon) Divisional Police headquarters, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.
The cop was shot dead when the gunmen numbering two arrived at the entrance of the station and shot sporadically at policemen mounting security at the time of the incident.
Two cops sustained injuries during the attack and they were rushed to the hospital where the victim was declared dead by doctors.
The second victim, who was also critically injured, was said to be responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.
The attack was said to have forced a crack team of policemen to launch a raid on Isiokolo, Kokori and other surrounding towns in the area.
It was learnt that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack during the raid.
The arrest, we learnt, created fears among residents and uniform personnel.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the death of one of the victims, adding that the gunmen came with an okada.
While saying that it was not a raid on the station, he said the other victim was receiving treatment at an undisclosed location while assuring a manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
